Vule Airways is a low-cost airline that's based in Kampala, Uganda. It is a relatively young airline, having been founded in March 2017. Its major hub is at Entebbe International Airport on the shores of Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the world. The airline plans to develop small hubs in Stansted and Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, Brussels in Belgium, and Tel Aviv in Israel.
For the start 6 aircraft will make up Vule Airways's fleet, which will fly passengers to more than 20 destinations across 3 continents (Africa, Europe and Asia). Particularly popular among Vule Airways flights will be those to East African Community Partner States major airports, Southern Africa, London, Moscow, Dubai, Mumbai, Guangzhou, and Tel Aviv. Although it is not part of any of the major alliances such as Star Alliance or Skyteam, the airline is negotiating codeshare agreements with major airlines in those alliances.
Hand luggage allowance
Passengers on a Vule Airways flight are allowed to carry 1 item of hand luggage not exceeding 10 kg into the cabin with them of maximum size 44 x 40 x 20 cm. The only exceptions to these limits are passengers travelling with a Vule Gold and, or Platinum Pearl Miles frequent flyer card. Such passengers may bring hand luggage that weighs as much as 14 kg, rather than the usual 10 kg. Infants do not have any hand luggage allowance, unless they have a separate seat booked for them, however, passengers with infants will be allowed to bring the child's stroller right to the aircraft's door. Vule Airways will charge a fee for any piece of hand luggage that exceeds either the maximum allowable size or weight.
Checked baggage policy
A standard flight ticket with Vule Airways includes 2 checked baggage piece allowance of total 40kg (not exceeding 20kg each) for intra-Africa flights and 3 checked baggage piece allowance of total 60kg (not exceeding 20kg each) for inter-continental flights. Passengers who add this information (number of baggage pieces and estimated weight) online before their flight may gain bonus weight at the airport if their pieces weigh slightly higher, at the discretion of the station manager. Adding it online is recommended as it will be cheaper than paying or surrendering the extra weight at the airport. Vule Airways also offers to carry various sports equipment, such as a bicycle, surfboard, set of golf clubs or musical instruments as checked baggage, granted they're added to a passenger's booking as a paid extra.
Vule Airways flights offer passengers the ability to check in online and save time at the airport. Online check-in becomes available 36 hours and closes 2 hours before departure time. For those who've paid to select a seat when booking, online check-in is available immediately after making their booking. Those passengers with Gold and Platinum Pearl Miles Frequent Flyer Cards can check in 7 days before a Vule Airways flight's departure. In all cases, check-in closes 1 hour before departure.
Passengers can either receive their boarding pass as a PDF to print or as a text message on their mobile phone with a QR scan code. Certain passengers will not be able to check in online. These include people traveling with an infant, children traveling unaccompanied, people flying with pets and those requiring special assistance e.g. medical cases and persons with severe disabilities.
